Buckle Up For National Safety Month In Santa Clarita This June

With June being National Safety Month, officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station are advising to always be buckled up when entering a vehicle.

With June being National Safety Month, deputies are urging Santa Clarita drivers to wear their seat belts at all times to prevent traffic-related deaths.

“Of the 22,215 passenger vehicle occupants killed in 2019, 47 percent were not wearing seat belts.” according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Both straps of a seatbelt should be worn across the body, and not placed behind the back or under one’s arm, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Children at least 8 years old or at least 4’9” tall can be mainly secured with a seatbelt at minimum, but should still use a booster seat as an extra precaution, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Preparing for National Safety Month, residents must look out for their safety, as well as the safety of their families by always buckling up before leaving, according to Sheriff’s officials.
