Armed Drunk Man Arrested After Displaying Knife To KHTS Staff In Santa Clarita

An armed drunk man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly displayed a knife to KHTS Radio staff and customers and later threw a meal at a custodial officer.

Around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to KHTS Radio on the 24300 block of Main Street in Newhall regarding a disturbance call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“It was reported a male adult was harassing customers and brandished a knife on his person,” Arriaga said.

Upon arrival, deputies detained a man matching the suspect description, Arriaga said.

“During a search, deputies located a fixed knife concealed on his person,” Arriaga said.

While speaking with him, they also detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person.

Dale Lovera, 60, was arrested for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger on his person, a felony, Arriaga added.

While being booked at the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station jail, the suspect threw a meal provided to him at a station custody assistant, Arriaga said.

Lovera was additionally charged for battery on a custodial officer, a misdemeanor, Arriaga added.
