A 5 Freeway pursuit of a hit-and-run suspect ended Friday afternoon in a rollover crash north of Santa Clarita.
Around 1:30 p.m. Friday, officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of a hit-and-run crash near the 5 and 210 Freeways in Sylmar, said Officer Stephan Brandt, with the CHP Traffic Management Center.
“We caught up with the driver around Valencia Boulevard,” Brandt said.
When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the suspect fled north on the 5 Freeway, and a pursuit was initiated.
Once the pursuit passed Templin Highway, north of Castaic, the suspect was involved in a rollover collision, according to CHP officials.
As of 2 p.m, CHP officers have temporarily blocked all northbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway.
