The Santa Clarita Athletic Club is facing scrutiny again, with new comments coming out from some users who have claimed they are continuing to be charged by the establishment and are allegedly not being communicated with by management.
New complaints have emerged alleging that the Santa Clarita Athletic Club, having already faced outcry for its response to COVID-19 cancellations, is now facing new complaints about the same issue despite others continuing to support the establishment.
“It’s very frustrating,” said Nancy Vargas, a Santa Clarita resident who claims to have never received a refund or any recent responses from the Club despite continued efforts to do so. “I do not think that this issue has been handled professionally.”
Another member who reached out to KHTS claims never to have received payment cancellation information from Club management, in addition to claiming added fees were charged during the COVID-19 closure, despite not using the Club’s services and attempting to receive a refund.
In addition, several recent posts on the Better Business Bureau allege similar complaints, including several who have claimed that they have not been able to get in contact with the Athletic Club.
Several of these recent complaints allege that a collection agency has been contacting them regarding payments despite attempts to cancel.

According to a statement in June of 2020 by the General Manager of the Athletic Club, members were sent an email when the gym was forced to close to inform them that all information about freezing or canceling an account was available on their website.
Some members that did not utilize the online service were among those that claim they continued to be charged, including several who have reached out to KHTS in recent weeks.
While some wanted to pause or cancel their membership during these uncertain times, other members have instead rallied around the local establishment.
Many members in support of the Athletic Club insisted on leaving their accounts active during the closure to help the business stay afloat.
One longtime patron of the gym who has typically paid his dues in cash even came by to drop off nearly $300 as a show of support for the Club.
Despite the support, those who have commented negatively about the Athletic Club’s actions toward their alleged membership cancellations may continue to speak out.
It is unclear whether or not those who have spoken against the Santa Clarita Athletic Club will continue in the future to take issue with the Club’s response to their comments against the establishment.
The Athletic Club did not respond to KHTS’s request for comment regarding recent complaints as of Wednesday..
