Man Arrested On Felony DUI After Crashing Into Fire Hydrant, Injuring Passenger In Castaic

A felony DUI suspect was arrested Easter morning after he allegedly crashed into a fire hydrant in Castaic, injuring his passenger.

Around 4:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision on Hillcrest Parkway near The Old Road in Castaic, said Officer Eric Priessman, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on Hillcrest Parkway when it struck a fire hydrant, according to Priessman.

“(The suspect’s) female passenger sustained minor to moderate injuries as a result,” Priessman said.

During the collision investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was driving under the influence of alcohol, according to officials.

Jonathan Guzman, 23, from Castaic, was arrested on felony DUI charges, due to his passenger sustaining injuries, Priessman added.

Guzman was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $100,000, according to arrest records.
