L.A. Public Health Reports Over 460 New COVID-19 Cases Sunday

An additional 466 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths were reported by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) across L.A. County on Sunday.

In addition to the 466 new COVID-19 cases and three additional deaths, the LADPH is reminding businesses to ensure that there are no crowded spaces or places, all outbreaks of three or more are reported, and employees are allowed to stay home if feeling any sickness.

LADPH officials advise businesses to complete and implement their safety protocols or post a copy of their L.A. County COVID-19 Compliance Program certificate in order to maximize opportunities for customers to utilize services while minimizing physical contact.

“As the weather gets warmer and we go out to enjoy all what our beautiful county has to offer, let’s keep up with the straight-forward safety measures that have reduced transmission,” said Barbara Ferrer, Director of Public Health. “When we get vaccinated, wear face coverings, keep our distance, and implement safeguards at workplaces, our actions minimize transmission and prevent severe health outcomes.”

Public Health inspectors are out on the field and willing to provide any clarity or technical assistance should businesses need it, LADPH officials said.

Non-compliance and dangerous conditions at businesses and worksites can be reported to Public Health anonymously by phone at 888-700-9995 or online here

Public Health investigates complaints and may issue citations for violations or potential business closure after repeat violations.

This brings the county’s cumulative total to 1,228,997 positive cases of COVID-19 and 23,623 deaths since the onset of the pandemic, according to the LADPH officials.

Testing results are available for over 6,312,000 people, with a cumulative 18% of people testing positive, according to officials.

The Southern California Region has 33.1% staffed adult ICU capacity remaining as of the state’s last update on Tuesday, April 13, according to state health officials.

Residents are encouraged to continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19, to not gather in crowds, stay home when sick, wear a face covering and maintain physical distance from others when outside of the home.
