The Castaic Fire broke out Thursday evening in the National Forest past Castaic Lake and is being driven by “strong winds.”
UPDATE (9:45 p.m.)” Despite the strong winds and heavy brush, crews have stopped the forward progression of the fire to three quarters of an acore, according to Fire officials.
The brush fire, dubbed the Castaic Fire, was first reported around 8:55 p.m. Thursday on Lake Hughes Road near Dry Gulch Road, said Dispatch Supervisor Choi, for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“We are gaining access, and have strong winds blowing and heavy brush,” Choi said.
As of 9:20 p.m., the fire is at one acre burning in a drainage ditch with no structures threatened, according to Fire officials.
