Three Teenage Newhall Robbery Suspects In Custody After Physical Assault

Three teenage Newhall robbery suspects were arrested Friday, about two weeks after they allegedly physically assaulted a victim and stole the individual’s property.

On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, around midnight, a victim was reportedly physically assaulted by three suspects on Arch Street and 4th Street in Newhall, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The suspects then stole the victim’s property before the victim was able to flee without further incident,” Arriaga said.

Detectives with the Career Offenders, Burglary, Robbery and Assault, (COBRA) team contacted the victim and were able to gain positive identifications of the three suspects responsible for the assault during a photographic line-up, Arriaga said.

On Friday, detectives arrested Johan Lopez, 19, from Newhall, on robbery and assault with a deadly weapon charges, both felonies, Arriaga added.

The other two suspects, who were both juveniles at the time of the attack, were also arrested on the same charges.

The three suspects were transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with Lopez’s bail set at $100,000, according to arrest records.
