Le Chêne French Cuisine, an upscale French restaurant and wine cellar located on Sierra Highway, is accepting reservations for Friday now that Los Angeles County’s updated health order allows indoor dining.
Juan Alonso, the owner of Le Chêne, said the establishment has not been able to provide outdoor dining because it does not have space or the proper setting to seat customers.
The restaurant has been completely closed since last March.
“My staff didn’t have jobs,” Alonso said. “They couldn’t feed their families. They had to go on unemployment.”
Now that reopening is finally possible, the restaurant is implementing guidelines to help keep customers and staff safe.
Restaurant officials noted that it is best to make reservations before visiting the establishment to ensure there will be enough staff and space to accommodate.
Reservations and groups must be no larger than six people, and parties dining indoors together must be from the same household, according to Le Chêne officials.
Guests are required to wear face masks when not eating or drinking. Visitors who are experiencing coronavirus symptoms will not be allowed into the restaurant.
“We’re following health department protocols,” Alonso explained. “First of all, you have to think about your customers, and second of all you have to obey the law.”
Le Chêne’s customers have flooded the restaurant’s Facebook page with messages about how much they miss the restaurant and how they are looking forward to eating there when it reopens.
Alonso said he and his staff are looking forward to the reopening as well.
“We are excited to get back to work,” said Alonso. “We want to thank our customers for 40 years of loyalty… we’re working to serve them in a safe and enjoyable way.”
