Box Van Fire Possibly Carrying Propane Slows Traffic In Canyon Country

A box van possibly carrying propane has caught fire Saturday causing traffic on Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country.

Around 3:50 p.m. Saturday, first responders received reports of a vehicle fire on Soledad Canyon Road near Prima Way, said Ed Pickett, a dispatch supervisor for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“Initial reports were that it’s carrying ammunition and propane,” Pickett said.

As of 4:45 p.m., deputies have blocked two eastbound lanes of Soledad Canyon Road for an unknown duration, said Lt. Jonathan Hoyt, with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
