Wanted Man Caught After Running Red Light In Valencia

A wanted man was arrested Friday when a deputy located pepper spray in his vehicle after the suspect allegedly ran a red light in Valencia.

Around 10 p.m. Friday, a deputy patrolling McBean Parkway near the entrance to the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall observed a vehicle that failed to stop at a red traffic light, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“During a traffic stop to warn or cite the driver, the deputy learned the male driver had an active outstanding warrant to his name,” Arriaga said.

During a search of his vehicle, the deputy located a pepper spray can, according to officials.

Further inquiry showed the suspect was a previously convicted felon, making it illegal for him to possess pepper spray, according to Arriaga.

Leoardo Rosales, 29, from Stevenson Ranch, was arrested on a felony charge of a felon in possession of pepper spray, Arriaga added.

Rosales was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $25,000, according to arrest records.
