Case Delayed For Canyon Country Man Charged With Alleged Sexual Assault

A Canyon Country man accused of sexually assaulting a female relative under the age of 16, returned to court Monday, only to have his case delayed.

Patrick Dumayas, 54, of Canyon Country, allegedly sexually assaulted a female relative under the age of 16 on Dec. 10, 2020.

Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. that day to a residence in the 17000 block of White Pine Way, Canyon Country, regarding a call of a sexual assault of a minor, according to Sgt. Brian Hudson with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau.

“Deputies contacted a female, under the age of 16, who reported that she had been sexually assaulted by a relative at the location earlier in the evening,” Hudson said in an email at the time.

Upon the conclusion of their investigation, the suspect, Patrick Dumayas, 54, of Canyon Country, was arrested for oral copulation with a child, according to Hudson.

Dumayas was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, with bail set at $1 million.

The case was handed to the Special Victims Bureau for further investigation.

He pled not guilty to a total of three felony charges, including one count each of oral copulation of a person under 16, sexual penetration of a person under 16 and lewd act upon a child age 14 or 15, according to Ricardo Santiago, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Dumayas is scheduled to return to the San Fernando Courthouse on April 26 for another preliminary hearing setting.
