Wanted Man Arrested In Stevenson Ranch After Being Found With Dozens Of Stolen Credit Cards

A felony identity theft suspect was taken into custody Monday afternoon after deputies reportedly located dozens of stolen credit cards among other illegal items in his possession during a Stevenson Ranch welfare check.

Around 3:45 p.m. Monday, a deputy patrolling a parking lot on the 25400 block of The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch observed a man slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle, said Deputy Natalie Arstriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The deputy approached the vehicle to conduct a welfare check and observed various drug paraphernalia within reach of the male,” Arriaga said.

During a search of the vehicle, the deputy reportedly recovered 30 credit cards, 14 I.D.s and three checkbooks, all not named to the suspect. Additionally, a baggie of methamphetamine was also allegedly located, according to Arriaga.

“Further inquiry revealed the suspect was a previously convicted felon with multiple active outstanding warrants,” Arriaga said.

James Alcorn, 34, from San Francisco, was arrested for felony possession of personal identifying documents with priors, felony possession of checks with intent to defraud, felony possession of credit cards with intent to defraud and misdemeanor charges of being in possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Arriaga added.

Alcorn was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $0, according to arrest records.
