Three Detained, Released After Newhall Traffic Stop

Three people were detained on armed and dangerous charges Friday evening after deputies stopped a vehicle in Newhall.

Just before 5 p.m., deputies were following a vehicle connected to a Los Anglees crime on the I-5 Freeway near Calgrove, according to Lieutenant Ethan Marquez with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Deputies ran the plate of a vehicle on the 5 Freeway and it came back connected to a reported crime in Los Angeles,” Marquez said.

Deputies closed the intersection near Calgrove and The Old Road, performed a traffic stop, and took one driver and two passengers into custody, according to Marquez.

“They were detained, then released after it was determined the individuals were not suspects related to the crime,” Marquez said.
