Both a Wind Advisory and a High Wind Watch have been issued in the Santa Clarita weather forecast for the weekend, with “damaging winds” of up 60 mph bringing the possibility of power outages.
For the third weekend in a row, winds in the Santa Clarita Valley have prompted meteorologists with the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue a Wind Advisory for the area.
“Damaging winds could blow down large objects such as trees and power lines,” the NWS advisor reads. “Power outages are possible.”
For the duration of the Wind Advisory, which is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Friday and last through 10 p.m. Saturday, north winds between 20 mph and 30 mph are forecast for the Santa Clarita Valley, with meteorologists expecting gusts of up to 45 mph.
Then, after the conclusion of the Wind Advisory, a High Wind Watch is then set to take effect, with northeast winds between 25 mph and 35 mph forecasted, and gusts of 60 mph expected.

“Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation.” the NWS watch reads. “Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds.”
The High Wind Watch is scheduled to last through Sunday afternoon.
As of 11:30 a.m. Friday, no areas of the Santa Clarita Valley were under consideration for Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) by Southern California Edison (SCE) as a result of the wind.
