High-Speed Motorcycle Pursuit Races Through Santa Clarita

A high-speed motorcycle pursuit raced through the Santa Clarita Valley Thursday at speeds exceeding 110 mph.

UPDATE 11:15 a.m.: The pursuit ended on the eastbound 210 Freeway near the 118 Freeway in Pacoima, where the suspect was taken to custody, said Officer Moses Marroquin, with the CHP Traffic Management Center.

Around 10:40 a.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Office took over a pursuit of a motorcycle which started in the Kern County area, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Office.

Initial reports indicate that the pursuit originally began after the motorcyclist refused to yield for speeding.

The pursuit headed south on the I-5 Freeway, and when it reached Highway 138, CHP Newhall officers took over the pursuit, according to Greengard.

The chase continued south on the 5 Freeway passing through Santa Clarita at speeds averaging between 110 and 120 mph, according to CHP officials.

The pursuit was still ongoing as of 11 a.m. Thursday.
