Two Wanted Suspects In Custody For Being In Possession Of Narcotics, Pepper Spray

Two suspects were taken into custody Wednesday in Stevenson Ranch on a slew of felony charges including false impersonation and narcotics.

Deputies patrolling Stevenson Ranch Wednesday afternoon contacted a man and woman during a traffic stop in the 24800 block of Pico Canyon Road for vehicle code violations, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“While speaking with the male driver, they learned he had multiple active outstanding warrants,” Arriaga said.

Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered various narcotics and drug paraphernalia that reportedly belonged to the suspects, as well as a canister of pepper spray, according to Arriaga.

“Further inquiry revealed the male was a previous convicted felon with terms that do not allow him to be in possession of pepper spray,” Arriaga said.

Once deputies detained the two individuals on the various charges, they learned through department resources that the woman had provided a false name, according to Arriaga.

After Sheriff’s officials learned who she was, deputies found that she had multiple outstanding warrants.

Christopher Burson, 46, from Northridge, was arrested on a felony charge of being a felon in possession of tear gas, and misdemeanor charges of being in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Candace Reid, 47, from Simi Valley, was arrested on a felony charge of false impersonation, misdemeanor charges of being in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia as well as her outstanding warrants, Arriaga added.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with Reid’s bail set at $65,000, and Burson’s bail set at $0, according to arrest records.
