Former Hart High Pitcher Signs With Los Angeles Dodgers

Hart High School alum Trevor Bauer has reportedly signed a three-year, multi-million dollar deal to pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Bauer announced the signing in a YouTube video posted Friday.

“This season is about making sure history remembers us as we wish to be remembered,” Bauer said in the video. “This season is about adding to our legacy, and I can’t wait Dodger fans.”

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Bauer has agreed to a three-year, $102 million deal with the Dodgers, who are coming into the season with momentum from their 2020 World Series Win.

The 30-year-old Hart High alum won the National League Cy Young Award winner in 2020, making him the first player from Santa Clarita to take home the award as well as the first to win it for the Cincinnati Reds, whom he was playing for at the time.

“It’s been my goal ever since I won the Golden Spikes [Award] in college in 2011,” Bauer told MLB.com at the time. “It’s something I’ve chased, I guess, for nine years now. All the offseason workouts, all the time I’m studying, learning, researching, all the bad years I’ve had, the bad pitches I’ve made, to find a way to overcome all of that and actually accomplish something that I’ve wanted for that long, it’s pretty special.”

During the shortened 2020 season, Bauer led the National League with a 1.73 ERA, and finished atop multiple other pitching categories in the league, including  WHIP (0.795), opponents’ batting average (.159) and hits per nine innings (5.1), among others.

His resume for the year also included two shutout performances and two complete games.

Bauer pitched in a World Series in 2016 as a member of the Cleveland Indians with his former Hart High School teammate Mike Montgomery pitching for the opposing Chicago Cubs.
