CVS To Administer COVID-19 Vaccines At 100 California Locations, Including L.A. County

As part of a multi-state vaccination plan, California is among an initial 11-state rollout that would provide COVID-19 vaccines at CVS Pharmacies across the country, including pharmacies in Los Angeles County.

Building on the company’s previous efforts to help slow the spread of the virus, CVS Health plans to begin to administer COVID-19 vaccines to eligible groups starting Thursday, Feb. 11 at 100 CVS Pharmacy locations across California, company officials said.

“One of our greatest strengths as a company is our presence in communities across the country, which makes us an ideal partner for administering vaccines in a safe, convenient, and familiar manner,” said Karen Lynch, President and Chief Executive Officer of CVS Health, in a statement Tuesday. “We continue to be grateful for the commitment of our frontline colleagues whose dedication has allowed us to deliver care and peace of mind throughout the pandemic.”

Los Angeles County is included in the participating CVS Pharmacies throughout California. As more vaccine supply becomes available, the company is set to expand to more locations and offer additional appointments.

Vaccines at participating CVS Pharmacy locations in California will only be available to individuals meeting state criteria, which include people aged 65 years and over, health care workers, and updated guidelines for emergency services, food and agriculture workers, teachers and school staff, according to state officials.

While appointments are expected to become available as early as Feb. 9, the full list of pharmacy locations was not immediately available.

The CVS Pharmacy vaccination locations throughout the country are subject to product availability, with the capacity to administer 20-25 million shots per month, company officials said.

In addition to making vaccines, CVS Health continues to make progress in its effort to vaccinate residents and staff at more than 15,000 long-term care facilities across California. First doses at all facilities in the state that selected CVS Health to provide COVID-19 vaccinations are set to be complete by mid-February with second doses well underway.

Patients must register in advance at the CVS website, or through the CVS Pharmacy app, and people without online access can contact CVS customer service at (800) 746-7287. Walk-in vaccinations without an appointment will not be provided.

More information on steps CVS Health has taken to address the pandemic is available at the company’s frequently updated COVID-19 resource center.
