Two Arrested In Saugus On Slew Of Felony Charges After Routine Traffic Stop

A wanted suspect and his passenger were taken into custody Wednesday in Saugus after stolen identification cards and drugs were allegedly found in the vehicle they were driving, which they were not authorized to use.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were patrolling Saugus when they observed a vehicle with expired registration on the 26400 block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop to inform the occupants of the vehicle of the code violation, according to Arriaga.

“While speaking with the driver (…) they learned he has never been issued a driver’s license and had an active outstanding warrant for his arrest,” Arriaga said.

As deputies continued their search of the driver, they recovered narcotics and multiple ID cards whose names did not match the suspect, according to Arriaga.

“While speaking with the female passenger (…) they learned she was in possession of narcotics,” Arriaga said.

After searching the duo, deputies initiated a search of the vehicle, resulting in the recovery of drug paraphernalia and additional narcotics, according to Arriaga.

As the investigation continued, deputies learned the suspects did not have authorization to possess the vehicle.

The driver, Rogelio Nonez, 43, from Mission Hills, was arrested on felony charges of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and identity theft, and misdemeanor charges of being in possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and being an unlicensed driver.

The passenger, Eileen Servera 38, from Mission Hills, was arrested on a felony charge of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and misdemeanor charges of being in possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Arriaga added.

The two were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s jail, with both suspects’ bail set at $0, according to arrest records.
