How To Register For A COVID-19 Vaccine In Los Angeles County

With the first phase of vaccinations underway in California, KHTS has made an easy step-by-step guide to show how to register for a vaccination appointment in L.A. County.

As we approach the process of country-wide vaccination, the phasing process has allowed those most at risk to get the vaccinations first. Phase 1A began with vaccinating healthcare workers and those in the medical field, and Phase 1B has finally begun. This allows those 65 and older to make a vaccination appointment.

  • To make an appointment, go to the public health website for Los Angeles County.
  • Then, click on the “Book an appointment” option under Phase 1B, Tier 1 for L.A. County Residents Over 65.
  • This will take you to a new web page that shows who qualifies for vaccination. Click on which category you find yourself in (either Healthcare Worker, Long Term Facility Care Residents, or Persons 65 and older) under “Required Documentation for Vaccination Appointments.” This will show the specific documents required to bring to your appointment.
  • Click on “Make an appointment to be vaccinated by LAC DPH and partners” at the bottom of the page.
  • This will take you to a new page where, after first agreeing to make an appointment, will allow you to browse through local mega Points Of Dispensing Sites (PODS) in L.A. County. These are all large scale drive-in-only vaccination sites.
  • Below the list of PODS are hospitals and medical clinics also offering the vaccine but are not drive-in.
  • Next to each vaccination site will show the available time slots including date and time, as well as a map with the site’s location.
  • Click “register” next to your desired time slot and you will be directed to a new website to make your appointment.

The documents required at your appointment must show proof of age and proof of residency in L.A. County. This could be a drivers license, California ID, social security card, passport, and more. If your license or ID doesn’t show that you live in L.A. county, options for that include a tax, bank or insurance document, vehicle registration, utility bill, and more.

For those without internet access, vaccination appointments can be made by calling (833) 540-0473 and step-by-step help will be provided.

Keep in mind that appointments and doses are limited and time slots for appointments may open later on in the day, so signing up for email updates may be recommended to make your appointment as soon as possible.
