Suspect Detained After Newhall Deputy-Involved Fight, Minor Injuries Reported

A suspect was detained Thursday morning after a Newhall deputy-involved fight which resulted in injuries to the suspect and a deputy, officials said.

Around 8:50 a.m.  Thursday, deputies contacted a hit-and-run suspect they were searching for near Wiley Canyon Road and Powell Drive in Newhall, said Natalie Arriaga spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

When deputies made contact with the suspect a fight broke out between them, according to officials.

Deputies on scene requested immediate back up to the scene to help detain the suspect who was allegedly fighting deputies, according to officials.

Paramedics were requested for an injury from a deputy-involved fight, said Marvin Lim, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

As of 9:15 a.m. paramedics are on scene treating the suspect and a deputy for unknown injuries, according to officials.

The condition of the suspect is unknown as of Thursday morning, according to Fire officials.

“All deputies are okay,” Arriaga said.

Wiley Canyon Road was completely closed while deputies investigated the incident.
