Stolen Vehicle Suspect In Custody After High-Speed 5 Freeway Pursuit

A stolen vehicle suspect is in custody following a 5 Freeway pursuit that passed through Castaic late Wednesday evening reaching speeds of 100 mph.

Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol, (CHP), dispatchers broadcasted a description of a stolen vehicle, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“Shortly after we located the stolen vehicle, a Dodge Ram, on the I-5 northbound at Hasley Canyon Road,” Greengard said.

The pursuit went up the 5 Freeway through the Grapevine at speeds of 105 mph before entering State Route 138, Greengard said.

The chase ended at 120th Street and SR-138, totaling 30 miles, according to Greengard.

The driver, Jayden Hazen, from Phoenix Arizona, was taken into custody and charged with felony evading and being in possession of a stolen vehicle, Greengard added.
