Community Remembers Former Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation President Diana Vose

The passing of former Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation President Diana Vose, who suffered a stroke in November, was announced Wednesday.

Vose began her tenure as president of the Henry Mayo Foundation in 2001, having been part of Henry Mayo’s philanthropic program since 1982.

In addition to heading fundraising programs, she played a major role in the development, recruitment and management of the Foundation’s 22-member Board of Directors and related committees and support groups, according to a previous KHTS story.

“Over her many years at Henry Mayo, Diana was instrumental in raising over $25 million for building and development, equipment, and healthcare programs,” read a Facebook post from the hospital Monday. “Henry Mayo has great appreciation for her years of compassionate and strategic leadership as we expanded to serve our community.”

Vose was “instrumental” in raising over $25 million for building and development, equipment, and healthcare programs at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, including the Henry Mayo Center, the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center, and the hospital’s Medical Pavilion.

“Diana made an immense difference at Henry Mayo,” said Marlee Lauffer, current foundation. “Personally, she was a mentor to me, she demonstrated grace and resilience in everything she did.”

At the time of her retirement, Vose was praised for her steady leadership, relentlessly positive attitude, and sense of humor, characteristics that proved her to be a “passionate ambassador” in the eyes of Henry Mayo CEO Roger E. Seaver.

“Diana was a beloved leader at our hospital, and tireless in her efforts to expand our facility and programs. Her work is seen throughout our campus and will be remembered by generations to come,” said Seaver.

She was also active in several service organizations such as the SCV Chamber of Commerce, where she served on the board of directors; the SCV Health PAC, where she served as treasurer; and as a member of Soroptimist International of Valencia, where she served a term as president. She was also a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and the Southern California Association for Hospital Development.

Vose and her husband, Ernest, boast six children between them, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, most of whom also live in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Donations in Diana’s memory may be made to the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation here.
