Santa Clarita Units Terminate Pursuit Of Possible Reckless DUI Tesla Driver

Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station began a pursuit of a reckless Tesla driver Tuesday night, a possible driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to Sergeant Cox with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Just before 8:50 p.m. units from Santa Clarita were advised of a “reckless deuce,” headed southbound on the Old Road near Sagecrest Drive in Stevenson Ranch, driving through red lights and into oncoming traffic.

“The pursuit started at Sagecrest on The Old Road,” Sgt. Cox said. “The suspect vehicle was being pursued based on reckless driving, a DUI suspect.”

Around 8:55 p.m. the driver of the Tesla was driving at a high rate of speed according to the Sergeant, and was last seen heading south of Balboa Boulevard. Los Angeles deputies were notified of the reckless driver heading into their jurisdiction.

As of 9:45  p.m. Tuesday, the pursuit was no longer ongoing, as the pursuit was terminated.

“We attempted to get ahold of CHP or LAPD and have them take over the pursuit however they had no units in the immediate area,” Sgt. Cox added.
