UPDATE: Hundreds Drive Through Santa Clarita In ‘Patriot Parade’

Hundreds of people drove through Santa Clarita as part of a “Patriot Parade” Sunday to express their support for President Donald Trump two days before Election Day.

After convening near Bridgeport park in Valencia, vehicles proudly sporting Trump 2020 flags drove through Valencia and ended their parade in the parking lot near the Route 66 Classic Grill on Soledad Canyon Road, owned by another vocal Trump supporter, George Thomas.

Sunday’s parade marks the latest in a series of weekend events aimed at vocalizing local support for President Trump ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

“Last week we had 500 cars and I think we can exceed that,” said Kerri Spurlin, who helped organize the event. “It’s just so much fun. The momentum, the people who joined from two weeks ago asking ‘Where are you going next weekend?’”

Spurlin described the rally as a “Patriot Parade,” a rally of Trump supporters who meet up and drive across town to show their support.

“The last couple of weeks we were going through (the Valencia) Town Center, and ending at Route 66, where we have room for everyone to park and support the local businesses,” Spurlin added.

As opposed to other conventional shows of support, where participants might stand at an intersection and let people honk as they drive by, Sunday’s participants are the ones who like to drive.

“It’s just so much fun,” Spurlin repeated. “When we do it this way, people pull up and ask how to get involved. For me I just love being able to have all my Trump signs and be around like-minded people and hopefully turning this place red. And it’s just so fun to see all the different ages.”

When asked about the public display of support, Spurlin said that most in the area like to be silent when supporting Trump.

“Now that we are around other people, being proud, people join in,” Spurlin added. “It’s nice to be aligning with people with the same thoughts and views.”

Sunday’s parade would be the last event before the voting season ends on Tuesday, Nov. 3, but Spurlin believes that these mobile rallies will continue.

“We plan on being out after the election,” Spurlin said. “To show continued support even if people cannot vote. We are still going to be there to support and hopefully celebrate.”
