This year, local non-profit Santa Clarita Optimist Foundation donated 750 superhero costumes to school-aged children for Halloween.
“During these challenging times that have disrupted how families with children play, school and celebrate, we hope that these gifts will bring smiles to children’s faces during this Halloween weekend,” stated Susan Russell, a Club and Foundation member.
Throughout the week leading up to Halloween, the foundation treated 750 children of the Santa Clarita Valley, Palmdale and Lancaster to gifts of superhero capes, masks and stickers.
A generous donation given by A Royal Suite Home Furnishings provided for elementary school-age children of underserved families to receive these Halloween Superhero gifts, according to the foundation.
The children impacted by the foundation participate in a variety of programs and activities, including the City of Santa Clarita’s Newhall Community Center and Canyon Country Community Center, the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children’s Cancer, the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, among many others.
Santa Clarita Optimist Foundation is an IRS-designated charitable organization, with the goal of providing support for youth in need.
