Pedestrian Killed In 14 Freeway Crash After Exiting Overturned Vehicle In Acton


A pedestrian was killed in a 14 Freeway crash in Acton Sunday morning after they exited their vehicle which rolled over, officials said.

On Sunday around 4:30 a.m. California Highway Patrol dispatchers started to receive reports of a traffic collision with an overturned vehicle on the southbound 14 Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road in Acton, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“The driver exited the overturned vehicle and was struck by another vehicle,” Greengard said.

As a result of the driver being struck by the passing vehicle, it resulted in fatal injuries, according to Greengard.

As of 8:30 a.m., all lanes of the southbound 14 Freeway south of Escondido Canyon Road is shut down for an unknown duration, according to Greengard.

All traffic is being diverted off at Red Rover Mine Road.

As of the publication of this article, the identity of the victim is unknown.
